You Can’t Teach Confidence – Use This 6 Step Process to Build Confidence Instead

You know what you shouldn’t do when someone is having a problem with confidence? Give them a worksheet, give them a lecture, or tell them to read a book. In other words, you can’t teach confidence.

As a result, if you want to help someone gain confidence you will need a process not a lesson plan and not a speech. No one goes from lacking confidence to having confidence because of something they hear. If you truly want to help someone gain confidence, I suggest using this 6 step repeatable process below:

  1. The process starts with assessing the sources of confidence.
  2. Next, measure those sources of confidence.
  3. The process continues by setting goals related to the sources of confidence that have low measurements.
  4. Then break those goals down into a measurable progression.
  5. After that establish a routine to execute the progression towards the confidence goals.
  6. Finally, the process repeats after several weeks of consistency with the routine by going back to the assessment in step 1.
