You Can’t Teach Confidence – Use This 6 Step Process to Build Confidence Instead
You know what you shouldn’t do when someone is having a problem with confidence? Give them a worksheet, give them a lecture, or tell them to read a book. In other words, you can’t teach confidence.
As a result, if you want to help someone gain confidence you will need a process not a lesson plan and not a speech. No one goes from lacking confidence to having confidence because of something they hear. If you truly want to help someone gain confidence, I suggest using this 6 step repeatable process below:
- The process starts with assessing the sources of confidence.
- Next, measure those sources of confidence.
- The process continues by setting goals related to the sources of confidence that have low measurements.
- Then break those goals down into a measurable progression.
- After that establish a routine to execute the progression towards the confidence goals.
- Finally, the process repeats after several weeks of consistency with the routine by going back to the assessment in step 1.
