The Real Meaning of Potential is Not What You Think
Potential is showing the capacity to develop into something more in the future. Everybody has potential, but not everybody puts themselves in the position to reach that potential.
As a result, when someone says you have a lot of potential, it’s not necessarily something you should take as a complement. As a matter of fact, it could mean just the opposite.
Simply stated, the real meaning of potential is that you haven’t lived up to your capabilities yet. It means you have more to give, more to accomplish, and more challenges to overcome. While it’s great to be someone who has a lot of potential, it’s not great to be in that same position for too long. Potential doesn’t last forever. You either seize it or waste it.
