The Best Thing You Can Do to Reach Your Goals This Year

Who holds you accountable? If you are like most people, it’s difficult to hold yourself accountable to those things that don’t come naturally. So when you make a promise to yourself and break it, no tears are shed and no sirens sound. Deadlines come and go like the wind.

When you’re young, there are accountability partners everywhere. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, teachers, and coaches… The list goes on and on.

Unquestionably, most youth and young adults are held accountable so often they learn to despise others holding them accountable as they grow into adults. This is the sad, but hard truth that adults face. Adults know that the best way to get a child to learn discipline is to hold them accountable. However, adults ignore this truth when it comes to themselves.

For most adults, accountability is nothing short of criticism or shaming, even when done with gentle and loving intent. Viewing accountability with this mindset is a mistake.

Who Will Hold You Accountable This Year?

Appointing someone to the job of holding you accountable is the single biggest step you can take towards your goals this year. The fact is, an accountability partner is a game changer.

Sometimes all you need to push just a little bit harder is for someone to give you a slight nudge. Other times, when the challenge is greater you need a kick in the ass. Either way, a formally appointed accountability partner is the best way to get that extra motivation you need.

To that end, I am the guy to do this for you. Together we will:

  • Define your goals
  • Develop a realistic plan that takes advantage of your unique personality traits
  • Most importantly, hold you accountable to that plan with daily check-ins and weekly accountability calls.
