Are You a Failure if You Don’t Achieve Your Goals?

Are You a Failure if You Don’t Achieve Your Goals?

Failure is real. However, in our feel good society we like to avoid facing failure head on.  We are told things like:

  • There is no such thing as failure, only learning experiences.
  • It’s only failure if you stop trying.
  • Failure is not the opposite of success is part of success.

On the one hand, sound bites like these provide comfort when confronting a failure. On the other hand, they make things worse.

Worse because these pithy little sayings help numb the pain of failure. However, pain is sometimes the fuel you need to motivate change.

While it may be true that failure is part of success, it is also true that success comes from facing reality.  Calling failure by any other name is not facing reality.
