My Favorite Question for Discovering Ideas for Your Life’s Work
What you want to be when you grow up is not the same as what you want your life’s work to be. Your career may or may not be your life’s work. But your life’s work is always your legacy.
The sad reality is that everyone doesn’t find their life’s work. Everyone doesn’t leave a legacy. As a matter of fact, most people don’t. What’s more, most people don’t even try.
If you are up to the challenge of discovering your life’s work, I have the perfect place for you to start. It’s my favorite question for discovering ideas for your life’s work.
This question comes from Daniel Lubetzky, CEO of snack company Kind LLC. I came to know Lubetzky and his brand of philanthropic entrepreneurship through his profile in one of my favorite books The Work. It’s in this book where I found his question.
If you were as successful as you could possibly imagine, what would you do to give back?
Once you answer this question, you have the foundation for finding your life’s work. This answer could not only be your legacy, it could also be your purpose. The only thing you have to do is answer this question honestly and then have the courage to take a tiny step of action each day towards achieving it.
