The Clearest Sign You Are Pursuing The Wrong Business Idea or Career
There were many reasons why I shutdown my startup Nichevertising in 2015. I shared my reflections on what happened a few weeks ago. Today, I randomly began discussing these reflections with a new friend I met at a networking event.
We spent most of our conversation talking about pursuing passion vs. chasing money. As I was mentioning that I thought this was the main reason my startup failed, I had an “aha” moment. I shared that the reason I didn’t have a passion for my startup was because I couldn’t create a personal connection with my customer. In addition, I didn’t feel a sense of satisfaction when I helped my customer solve their problems.
If You Aren’t Giving a Gift You are Pursuing The Wrong Business Idea
I believe this is the clearest sign you are pursuing the wrong business idea or career. At that moment of serving a customer, you should feel a certain sense of satisfaction. The same sense of satisfaction you get when giving the perfect gift to someone you care about.
If you don’t get this specific feeling when serving a customer, then you’re pursing the wrong business idea or career. It’s that simple.
