Free Motivation is Costing You More Than You Think
Motivation can do two things for you. First, it can inspire you. Second, it can transform you. Moreover, you must be careful not to mistake motivation that provides inspiration with motivation that provides transformation because ultimately this will leave you neither inspired nor transformed in the long run.
The inspiration you get from a motivational speech is temporary. In fact, all inspiration is temporary. On the other hand, transformation is permanent. Furthermore, motivation to go through a transformational process is far more valuable than motivation that just inspires.
Motivation that creates transformation causes you to create an environment to consistently motivate yourself. This environment will include a steady stream of motivational speeches to inspire, but these speeches are in the context of a repeatable process of taking progressive action towards a specific and clear goal.
Finally, there is a reason why motivational speeches and music are so popular. They are often free or very low cost. That is why so many people default to this as their method for inspiration but never get to the point of transformation. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
In contrast, if you want help with a truly transformational type of motivation, it will be relatively expensive. It will come packaged in the form of a coaching program that is built around self-awareness, planning, measuring progress, and accountability. Unquestionably though, if you are pursuing a purpose that is deeply meaningful the cost is almost always well worth it.
Simply stated, if the only motivation you get comes from free sources, it’s likely costing you more than you think.
