The Only Way to Sustain Momentum is to Make Momentum Sustainable
It’s not sustainable to achieve a goal with extreme sacrifices. Yes, extreme sacrifices can get you what you want in the short-term. However, once you get what you want, burn out is inevitable. Moreover, anything you earn in the short-term you will lose in the long-term if you burn out.
That is why sustaining momentum is so important. It’s clearly better to use the power of momentum to your advantage rather than to your disadvantage. Momentum is the motion of moving. Therefore, it takes far more energy to create momentum than it does to sustain momentum. Consequently, the power of momentum provides an advantage once you get it going but it puts you at a disadvantage when you must start from scratch.
Correspondingly, the only way to use momentum as an advantage is to focus on making the process of creating momentum sustainable. Therefore, it’s always better to achieve a goal slower with balance versus achieving it fast with extreme action.
This balance requires patience, rest, recovery, and a focus on the long-term over the short-term. While sacrifice is important, extreme sacrifices in the short-term without rest and recovery is self-sabotaging.
Simply stated, always remember to focus less on the goal and more on the process. By focusing on the process, you can optimize it to be sustainable instead of extreme.
