Taking the Easy Way Out Is Not the Same as Doing What’s Easy
If everyone is doing what’s easy, then taking that same path is going to be harder because of the crowd. Crowds create chaos, scarcity, and conformity in outcomes. To put this differently, doing what’s easy is harder because this leads to being average and average people live difficult lives.
On the other hand, doing what’s difficult is actually how you take the easy way out. When you work so hard that other people aren’t willing to do what you do, it gets easier and easier to get what you want. However, there is no way you can outwork everyone. So, that’s not the goal. The goal is to work harder than most and work your hardest when it’s time to work.
This is the ultimate application of the strategic mindset. It’s not the old cliché of working smarter, not harder. It’s being strategic about working smarter at working harder. Unquestionably, this is the easiest path to get whatever it is you want out of life.
