Quotes to Motivate You While Getting Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
You don’t get comfortable being uncomfortable just because you listen to a TED talk or a David Goggins YouTube video. Getting comfortable being uncomfortable requires a process, and that process begins by using positive training pain. Positive training pain is training to intentionally create pain that 1) won’t cause injury and 2) ultimately leads to personal growth.
This takes time. However, time is your greatest asset in the process of getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Therefore, once you identify your end goal for why you need to get comfortable being uncomfortable, you must step back.
It’s at this point you must identify the first step to push yourself only slightly out of your comfort zone. Then, the most important thing you can do from here is to create a goal progression plan. This plan must provide you with step-by-step instructions to increase your pain tolerance for whatever it is your trying to get comfortable being uncomfortable with.
Along the way of executing this plan, you will doubt yourself and the pain will make you consider quitting often. Each time you have these negative thoughts, I want you to come back to this essay and read these quotes below. Remind yourself that although getting comfortable being uncomfortable is not easy, it’s worth it.
