Use the Power of Momentum to Help You Achieve Your Goals

Use the Power of Momentum to Help You Achieve Your Goals

It’s clearly better to use the power of momentum to your advantage rather than to your disadvantage. Momentum is the motion of moving. Therefore, it takes far more energy to create momentum than it does to sustain momentum. Consequently, the power of momentum provides an advantage once you get it going but it puts you at a disadvantage when you are starting from scratch.

For example, when you’re pursuing a goal, momentum can either help or hurt. Once you start the process of pursuing a goal, it becomes significantly harder to achieve that goal if you stop the process and restart again at some future date. Additionally, if you continue in a cycle of starting and stopping, achieving the goal will get more and more difficult each time you stop.

As a result, your goal pursuit mentality must change. You must avoid the cycle of starting and stopping at all cost. You must realize that it’s okay to scale down your routine. A routine filled with small actions that are easy to execute can keep you from losing momentum and grinding to a halt. Scaling down temporarily will not impact your momentum towards your goal. On the other hand, completely grinding to a halt will have a huge impact on momentum.

So, the takeaway is simple. If you want to use the power of momentum to your advantage always keep doing something towards pursuing your goals, no matter how small.
