Counterpoint: If You Want to be Successful Don’t Keep Your Options Open
It’s classic advice to tell someone to keep their options open. Most of the time, this is bad advice.
There is only one reason why you need to keep your options open, and that’s when you don’t know what you want. Moreover, when you don’t know what you want it doesn’t matter what option you pick because no matter what you pick it’s the wrong choice.
Simply stated, if you want to be successful you must know what you want. Correspondingly, by knowing what you want you remove all other options but the right option. As I like to say, you are free to choose your goals, but your goals limit your freedom.
