The Only Two Reasons Why Great Efforts Lead to Average Results

There is nothing more frustrating than working your ass off to be the best at something and then only end up with average results. The reality is if you truly gave a great effort and really worked your ass off, but the results didn’t follow, it can only mean one of two things.

First, it could be that you did the wrong thing the right way. While hindsight is always 20/20, there is only one way to get this same 20/20 vision beforehand. That’s to have an expert coach use his or her experience to guide you towards doing the right thing the right way.

Alternatively, it could be that although you did the right thing the right way, you didn’t do it long enough. To put it differently, you didn’t get close enough to meeting the Anders Ericsson 10,000-hour rule of thumb. As a result, the only thing you can do when this happens is to just keep grinding.
