How Do You Apply the ‘You Do or Don’t Deserve It’ Mindset?
Some people reward themselves even when they don’t deserve the reward. Other people never reward themselves because they know they don’t deserve the reward. Then there are others who only reward themselves when they deserve it, and they work their ass off to deserve it.
The first type of person has no accountability to themselves. The second type of person has accountability but lacks the belief that hard work pays off. Finally, the third type of person has a strong belief that hard work pays off and holds themselves accountable to working hard in order to get that pay off.
The fact is, all three of these mindsets exist in nearly all people at the same time. For example, you may sneak a treat when you don’t deserve it when it comes to your diet, but only take vacations when you can afford it.
Or you may work at a job you hate and complain about it every day. But you also refuse to put any effort into finding a career in something that drives your passion and purpose.
There are super fit people who are always unhappy and there are overweight people who are always happy. There are super rich people who take no vacations and middle-class people who take vacations all the time. Then there are the people who hate their job who rarely look for a new one, and people who love their job who are always looking to grow into a better one.
The key to managing this mindset is self-awareness. Take the time to know yourself. Know the areas of your life in which you deserve it, have no accountability, and lack belief. Then, take this information and do something about it. Don’t let your mindset control you, control your mindset.
