Mistakes of Successful People vs. Mistakes of Unsuccessful People
Contrary to popular belief, unsuccessful people make fewer mistakes than successful people. The reason for this is simple. Unsuccessful people don’t take as many risks as successful people. However, the few mistakes unsuccessful people make typically have greater consequences than the many that successful people make.
The reason for this is not because successful people are any smarter than unsuccessful people. It’s because of the type of mistake each make. When you stop and think about the universe of possible mistakes any given person can make, there are really only two categories.
- First, there are the mistakes that people make as a result of negligence.
- Then there are the mistakes that people make as a result of trying something difficult.
Unsuccessful people tend to make the first type of mistake and successful people tend to make the second type. What’s more, successful people understand the difference between these two types of mistakes and unsuccessful people ignore this difference. As a result, successful people learn how to use mistakes to get better while unsuccessful people don’t.
