Counterpoint: Winners Don’t Always Win

Counterpoint: Winners Don’t Always Win

Winners win and losers lose. This is straightforward logic. However, reality is not that straightforward. The reality is that winners don’t always win and losers don’t always lose.

Case in point is when a person with a long term mindset competes against someone with a short term mindset. Unfortunately, there is little to no chance to win in the short term against someone optimizing for the short term when you’re optimizing for the long term. Yet, it is and will always be true that winners win in the long term and losers lose in the long term. Therefore, whatever happens in the short term only benefits the person who learns.

So, if your goal is to win in the long term, accept this fact and move on. Don’t be fooled into comparing your long term success against someone else’s short term victory.
