When You’re Good at Giving Advice, But Don’t Take Your Own Advice

There are many people who are very good at providing good advice and counsel to other people. However, many of these same people happen to be very bad at taking their own good advice. If you are a parent then you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s the old “do as I say, not what I do” mentality.

If you find yourself struggling with this personal contradiction, then this means two things.

  1. The fact that you can give good advice means you are very knowledgeable.
  2. But not taking your own good advice means you’re lacking wisdom.

Given this, you really only have one choice if you want to become the best version of yourself. Get help from a coach. No matter what stage of life you’re in, finding a trusted adviser to coach you to the next level is probably the best investment in yourself you can make right now.
