Accountability is Important for Teens, But As an Adult It’s a Game Changer

Before you turn 18 accountability is everywhere. Parents hold you accountable. Teachers hold you accountable. Coaches hold you accountable. Even sometimes neighbors, relatives, and teammates hold you accountable.

There is so much accountability when people are young that some teens begin to despise others holding them accountable as they grow into adults. This is sad, because accountability as an adult is even more of a game changer than it is as a youth.

When you become an adult you don’t just automatically become capable of holding yourself accountable. If you didn’t have discipline and self-control as a teenager, you won’t all of a sudden have discipline and self-control as an adult. Yet, many adults fear when others try to hold them accountable.

For many adults, accountability is nothing short of criticism or shaming, even when done with gentle and loving intent. Viewing accountability with this mindset is a mistake. The fact is, when you are in pursuit of a difficult goal an accountability partner is a game changer.

If you believe this is true as I do, and want an accountability partner to provide you with the spark to take it to the next level, contact me here to find out how I can help.
