My Two Boredom Goals for My Kids This Summer
It sounds weird to have a boredom goal for my kids, but we’re living in weird times so it is what it is. Kids are going to get bored this summer, likely more bored than any other summer ever if things don’t change drastically. As a result, there are two goals I have as it relates to this boredom.
- Don’t give into their nagging for the chance to play video games and watch tv as the cure for boredom.
- Help them develop a pet project unrelated to sports or gaming and also doesn’t require consuming content.
When it comes to the first goal, my track record is pretty awful. My patience for nagging is short. I either give in or blow a fuse. The goal is to avoid both of these bad habits. Correspondingly, working towards the second goal will help me achieve the first goal.
For the second goal, the plan is to help them develop a meaningful hobby related to business or the arts. One of the sayings I try to live by is that a meaningful day is one in which you create more than you consume. So if I can instill this philosophy into their daily summer routine then I will achieve my goal.
