What if You Can’t Wake Up at 4:00 AM?
There is a common notion that the top 1% of successful people wake up early in the morning. Really early! Like 3:00 am or 4:00 am early. I cannot confirm or deny if this notion is true. However I do know it’s a fact that the vast majority of motivational speakers and thought leaders share this as fact.
So if we take this belief in a 4:00 am wake up time for top 1% success as truth, what does this mean if you aren’t a morning person? What if you simply can’t wake up at 4:00 am? Does this mean you simply aren’t built for top 1% success?
Personally I don’t think so. I believe the 4:00 am wake up concept is more or less a metaphor for living outside of your comfort zone and dealing with pain. It’s not comfortable for any normal person with a family to wake up at 3:00 am or 4:00 am, but this doesn’t mean normal people don’t do it successfully. It hurts when they do it, but they just fight through the pain if that’s what it takes to get what they want.
Nevertheless, waking up at 3:00 am or 4:00 am might not be your “getting out of your comfort zone” battle to fight. But I’m sure there is something else that you can get comfortable being uncomfortable with. It may be public speaking, it may be consistency, or it could even be getting help from a mentor or coach.
The bottom line is that success is on the other side of being uncomfortable doing something, and fighting through the pain associated with it. Waking up at the crack of dawn might not be in the cards for you. But without doubt there is some other uncomfortable act of change you will have to conquer before you get whatever it is you want.
