When Hard Work and Sacrifice Doesn’t Lead to Achieving Your Goals

There is a real chance that hard work and sacrifice will not get you to your goals. In fact, it’s more likely than not that you won’t ever achieve the original goals you set for yourself at the start of a process to pursue a set of goals.

However, this truth doesn’t make hard work and sacrifice any less valuable.

Goals change as you gain experience. Goals also change as a result of things that are beyond your control. Consequently, achieving goals is not how you make your life meaningful.

What makes life meaningful is finding a purpose that drives goals that motivate you to work hard and sacrifice. To that end, when you focus on the process, and the process is in pursuit of a meaningful purpose, the process becomes the payoff not the goal. So even if you never reach the original goal, the hard work and sacrifice you invested is still worth it.
