Mission Driven or Money Driven – Choose One or the Other NOT Both
There are two paths in life that couldn’t be more different. The mission driven path and the money driven path. Although it’s easy to pass judgement on which one is better than the other, in truth it doesn’t matter.
What matters is that money driven people shouldn’t do mission driven work and mission driven people shouldn’t do money driven work.
When money driven people do mission driven work, they compromise the mission. Similarly, when mission driven people do money driven work the mission is also compromised. So as you can see, although most missions require money, when money is the focus the mission always suffers.
I say all this to make a simple point about my post yesterday on life’s most pressing question. Those who want money as their mission in life, have money. Those who say they want money but don’t have money, money is likely just the means to the end of what they really want. In fact, the latter is most people.
According to a Pew Research Center study “Only 13% of adults say it’s “very important” for them to be wealthy, ranking this personal priority far behind six others…” What’s more, I think it’s fair to conclude most of the 87% that don’t think it’s “very important” to be wealthy are more mission driven than money driven.
If this is even remotely accurate most people are mission driven, which likely includes you. If this assumption is true, I’d like to leave you with a simple question. Is living a money driven life compromising your mission in life? If so, what will you do about it?
