When Your Past Did Not Go as Planned You Have Two Options
When your past did not go as planned you have two options.
1) Keep reliving the complications of the past and let it define you.
or
2) Realize that you’re both the captain of your ship and the travel agent for your future.
It’s easy to accept option 1. It requires no work, no change, and no risk. On the other hand, option 2 is the complete opposite. Being both the captain and the travel agent is risky. If your future continues to not go as planned, you’re the only one to blame since you’re responsible for both the itinerary and the travel.
However, hidden in the risk of option 2 is the fact that you have nothing to lose. You’re playing with house money. If you do nothing by choosing option 1, you get the same thing if you choose option 2 and fail. At least with option 2 you get a glimmer of hope combined with the euphoria that comes with taking the first step at trying something new. To put it another way, you get an opportunity.
It’s a fact that opportunities do not guarantee success. But you can’t overlook the fact that the absence of opportunity is also a guarantee of the absence of success.
