Simple Quote to Help You Focus in the Face of Distraction
There are many ways to accomplish the same thing. However, there is always one way that’s far simpler than the others. Case in point, training yourself to focus on what’s important.
I use several techniques for focus that all have the same end goal. For example, daily goals focusing on minimum viable change, separating out essentials from non-essentials, and using a quote of the week are three of my go to techniques. For the most part, I find using a combination of these three are enough to keep most people moving in the right direction.
Occasionally though, these techniques are too cumbersome in the moment and all one needs is a simple reminder to get back on track.
With this in mind, today I came across a quote from the late Stephen Covey that was both amazingly simple and deeply meaningful. This little quote may be the only reminder you need when it’s imperative to focus.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
There can only be one main thing at a time, maybe two. When focus is critical for success, center your mind on those one or two things and execute.
