When Commitment Turns into the Ultimate Bad Habit

When Commitment Turns into the Ultimate Bad Habit

A commitment starts with a promise and ends with fulfilling that promise with the appropriate action. When you don’t fulfill that promise with the appropriate action, an internal spiral towards the ultimate bad habit ensues.

  1. First, there is a sense of guilt.
  2. Then, the “I will do it tomorrow” mindset starts.
  3. Next, apathy sets in.
  4. Finally, the ultimate spiral into accepting that commitments are meaningless withers away at your character.

As the saying goes:

The first time you break a commitment it’s hard. The second time you break a commitment, it gets easier. The third time, you don’t even think about it. Then, from that point forward commitments mean nothing.

With this in mind, don’t make commitments you are not 100% sure you can keep. It’s better to not commit, than to commit and fail to follow through.
