The Fallacy of Natural Strength

The Fallacy of Natural Strength

People are not born strong. Whether it’s physical strength or the strength of being really good at something. I believe it’s mentally lazy to envy someone’s strength and then write it off as natural.

The truth is, people are born with talents and gifts based on the nature and nurture their parents provide. However, without investing in these natural talents and gifts they won’t develop into strengths.

By definition, a strength is the ability to consistently provide near perfect performance in a given area. There is no way to develop a strength in a given area without investing an enormous amount of time practicing and training that area. This is a fact.

The next time you see someone who appears to deliver a near perfect performance, the first thing you should do is admire their work ethic not the appearance of natural talent.
