The One Goal That Everyone Should Have – No Exceptions
Goal setting is the foundation for all success. However, having goals are meaningless unless you have one goal in particular. This goal will serve as the foundation for all other goals. This goal is to commit to finding a purpose for your life.
As I shared yesterday in my formula for calculating your ability to maximize potential, if you have trouble identifying your purpose, then your chance of maximizing your potential is 0%. This may be blunt, but there is little point in setting other goals without first defining a purpose for your life. Otherwise, you are essentially lost in a forest without a compass.
Reggie Hammond, founder of the first professional services firm exclusively focusing on empowering purpose is an authority on purpose statements. He has spent the last 9 years leading his firm Your Crescendo in empowering purpose and impact for individuals, teams and organizations who dare to aspire for purposeful work. Hammond has a simple rule of thumb for developing purpose statements. He suggest that a purpose statement should:
…start with a verb implying work, highlight one’s most compelling gifts, end with and clearly articulate impact, inspire yourself, and make it feel uniquely yours.
Developing a Purpose Statement for Your Life
Developing a purpose statement for your life can appear as a daunting task. Especially if you haven’t spent your life working in the non-profit, artistic, or academic world. If you’ve yet to define your purpose, I highly recommend you try Your Crescendo’s Finding Your Forte program.
The Finding Your Forte program is a process that helps people from all walks of life define their purpose. When I began working with Your Crescendo, and found my “forte” (my purpose), my life literally changed. Reggie helped me develop my purpose statement, which is to help athletes, sports parents, and teams unlock their hidden genius. The first time I read my purpose statement out loud shivers ran through my body. I was afraid, and this fear almost paralyzed me. But I knew following my purpose was the best thing I could do both for myself and my family.
If you want to change your life like me by participating in the Finding Your Forte program, I would love to show you how. What’s more, helping you would be helping me fulfill my purpose. Please contact me here so we can start you on your path to a purpose driven life.
