The Day After an Emotional Disappointment is Not a Day to Cherish

The day after disappointment is a precarious day. It’s one of the days where you must be careful not to do and say things you might regret in the long run.

Knee jerk reactions and overreactions to the events of the past day are hard to avoid. The best thing to do is file these reactions away so you can laugh at them one day in the future. These reactions are far from reality.

However, reality is just out of your grasp. You need help from those who are not as close to the disappointment as you to help provide the perspective you need. A long conversation with a trusted friend, coach, or mentor is exactly what’s needed today.

Someone who can help you see the forest from the trees. Someone who can help you find the lesson in the failure, and help you pick yourself up to get back on course with not one more day of sulking.

The day after an emotional disappointment is not a day to cherish, but it is a day to remember. It’s a day that calls for reflection as reflection is what will drive the learning required to move forward with resilience.
