The Simple Reason Why Pain is Important
Without pain, there is no gain. Without pain, there is no change. It’s really that simple. Those who avoid pain embrace the instant gratification mindset. Those who embrace pain avoid mediocrity and stagnation.
Research from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine shows that although pain itself is not a state of mind, the intensity of how we feel pain is. What’s more, this research shows that positive emotions minimize the intensity of the pain one feels. This means that when you view pain as beneficial the pain is less intense than if you view pain as detrimental.
Therefore, understanding, accepting, and embracing pain as the means to gain is critical to the process of pursuing difficult goals. As a result, the best way to incorporate this fact in a goal pursuit process is to combine positive training pain techniques with goal progression planning.
