The Not So Secret to Success: Keeping the Promises You Make to Yourself

It’s no secret that keeping the promises you make to yourself is paramount for success.

It’s very easy to quit on yourself. Much easier than quitting when someone else important to you is counting on you to deliver. This is why your toughest competition in life is the person in the mirror.

The fact of the matter is that you can’t always beat that person in the mirror either. There will be times when procrastination, fear, or some other emotion temporarily beats you. This is part of life. You can lose a battle without losing the war. But only if you keep fighting.

However, if you fail to keep fighting and don’t keep the promises you make to yourself enough times, it will become a habit. This is debilitating. We all must do whatever it takes to prevent this type of debilitating habit from taking hold.

Once you can’t trust yourself to keep the promises you make to yourself, success becomes nothing more than a fleeting dream.
