Two Ways to React to Mistakes: The Right Way and the Wrong Way

There are only two ways to react to a mistake. There’s the right way and there’s the wrong way, that’s it.

The Wrong Way to React to a Mistake

The wrong way to react to a mistake is to get angry with yourself. Then let this anger drive frustration that causes you to ruminate on the mistake. In addition, you let the mistake impact your body language, your breathing, and your thoughts. All of this then leads to a decrease in focus and an increase in the chance of making another mistake.

The Right Way to React to a Mistake

The right way to react to a mistake is to take a few seconds to vent. Then let it go. During those few seconds of venting, take a moment to acknowledge what went wrong. In addition, find the lesson to learn as you take a few deep slow breaths and then move on.
