Behaviors of Emotionally Intelligent Men vs. Women
Today I completed reading chapter three of Daniel Goleman’s groundbreaking book Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ. Within this chapter Goleman cites the research of several psychologist including that of Jack Block. Block did a study that compared men and women with high IQ versus those with high emotional intelligence.
What was most telling to me was that those with high IQ had more negative behaviors than those with high emotional intelligence. In addition, the behaviors listed of those with high emotional intelligence stood out to me as sort of a check list of behaviors a parent would want their child to develop. Therefore, below I’ve listed out those behaviors for future reference as a guide for spotting emotionally intelligent behaviors in children.
