The Curious Case of Perception vs. Reality

The Curious Case of Perception vs. Reality

Just like you should try not to judge a book by it’s cover, you should try not to judge someone’s reality by their perception.

Perception: Young athlete scores 50 touchdowns in his 8 and under football league and is seen as an unstoppable force destined for the NFL

Reality: This kid is really 11 years old and his parents are lying about his age.

Perception: High school girl is taking all AP and honor classes getting straight As and is on track for valedictorian.

Reality: Mom stays up with her until 2 am each morning helping her study and do homework, does most of her project work for her, and writes papers for her.

The lesson here is to never chase the perception. Your reality is likely better than you think, and better than the false reality you’re chasing.
