Good Feelings and Good Memories
Outside of our every day routines, there are three broad buckets in which we all spend our time.
First there’s the guilty pleasures. These are the activities that make us feel good momentarily, but leave us with a sense of regret. For example, eating junk food, staying up super late scrolling through social media, or binge watching a series over an entire weekend.
Next there are the healthy sacrifices. These are the activities in which the memory is better than the moment. For example, working out, being an entrepreneur, or dare I say the entire first year of raising a new born.
Then there’s the sweet spot. Activities that create good feelings in the moment and good memories to look back on. This would include spending quality time with friends and family, working on passion projects, and pursuing your life’s work.
The trick to having a productive life is to spend less time on the guilty pleasures, more time with the healthy sacrifices, and our prime times in our sweet spot.
